
Over the next few weeks, Richard Wagner will be Philippe Jordan’s special focus: in May and June, he will conduct the complete Nibelungentetralogie twice and before that the premiere series of Tannhäuser. The latter will be Jordan’s fourth new Wagner production at the Vienna State Opera after Meistersinger, Parsifal and Tristan und Isolde.
The Tannhäuser premiere, directed by Lydia Steier, will take place on 22 May. The cast will include Clay Hilley as Tannhäuser, Malin Byström as Elisabeth, Günther Groissböck as Landgraf Hermann, Martin Gantner as Wolfram von Eschenbach and Ekaterina Gubanova as Venus.
